Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) is in compliance with this comprehensive standard.  The College employs a sufficient number of qualified staff with appropriate education and/or experience in its Library and Success Center to accomplish the institution’s mission.


Librarians who are properly credentialed and qualified support each campus.  A roster of library staff provides degree and experience information.  FTCC librarians and staff provide extensive services to students and faculty.  

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Standards for Community, Junior, and Technical College Learning requires that library professional staff have graduate degrees from accredited institutions.  All library professionals have masters’ degrees from programs accredited by the American Library Association.

The 2008–2009 Faculty/Administration/Staff Support Services Survey indicated a 98.7% user satisfaction rate.   Students rated the quality of library resources and services in the 2008-2009 Current Student Survey at 96.7%.

The current trend of millennial students shows a decline in students physically visiting the facilities as shown by the Library Attendance: 2003–2008, and *Total Book and Materials Circulation.  However, an increase is shown by the amount of *Database Usage and the number of students enrolled in Distance Learning Classes.  Therefore, the number of library staff is sufficient as shown by the number of services provided, the satisfaction rating, and the decreased physical use of library facilities.

The Success Center at FTCC is a learning resource designed to provide enhanced educational opportunities to students enrolled in the College’s academic courses including developmental studies.  Qualified Success Center staff provide orientations to students in the use of the Center’s resources, which include course-specific computer software, SMARTHINKING®, audiovisual aids, and printed materials such as instructor-developed “handouts.”   Staff provides individualized assistance to students in a wide range of subjects including English, mathematics, science, and accounting. 

The 2008–2009 Faculty/Administration/Staff Support Services Survey indicated a 96.7% user satisfaction rate.  Students rated the Quality of Success Center Resources and Services in the 2008-2009 Current Student Survey at 94.3%.

The College offers staff members of the Library and Success Center many professional development opportunities. During 2008–2009, the staff participated in the following professional development classes:
