The FTCC service area encompasses Cumberland County, which includes Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake, and Fort Bragg Military Reservation. Several hundred additional community sites provide convenient learning opportunities for approximately 25,000 continuing education students annually. Classes meet on days and at times convenient for students, seven days a week. The College provides the general public with a list of offerings each term through the Continuing Education tabloid.
Other than self-support classes, the North Carolina Community College system mandates (1) tuition and (2) tuition and fee waivers. The remaining follow an established, approved fee scale (Continuing Education Fee Scale and Department Fees).
The CED has an accountability and credibility plan that includes prescribed class visitations. Each time a class gets visited, the supervisor reviews the class roster and completes a class verification report. At the conclusion of each term, an Accountability Plan Term Report is presented to FTCC’s Board of Trustees for approval.
Along with class visitations, the annual performance appraisal process enhances the quality of performance. Supervisors, with input from the employees, establish employees' individual performance objectives. Supervisors and the employee review the performance dimensions listed on the Employee Performance Appraisal Form and indicate employability skills and performance attributes most critical to the function of the position. At the end of the appraisal period, employees are evaluated based upon performance skills, targeted goals, and attributes. To ensure consistency of operations, CED faculty and staff follow the guidelines set forth in the Continuing Education Faculty Handbook.
The CED is involved in the College-wide strategic planning process which includes developing planning assumptions, implementation plans, assessments, budgets, and End-of-Year Reports (Continuing Education 2.1 - 2.13.3)
