Summary
Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) is in compliance with this core requirement. The College has been in continuous operation since 1958 when it was founded as the Fayetteville Industrial Education Center (FIEC).
Narrative
FTCC has been in continuous operation for over 50 years. In 1963, the Board of Trustees of FIEC petitioned the State Board of Community Colleges to be designated as Fayetteville Technical Institute (FTI). In January 1964, the North Carolina General Assembly provided the charter for FTI. In January 1988, at the behest of the North Carolina Department of Community Colleges (now known as the North Carolina Community College System) and the North Carolina General Assembly, FTI was redesignated as a community college and became known as Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC). A brief history of the College can be found in the FTCC Fact Book 2009.
Currently, FTCC has students enrolled in over 150 certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs. Programs, along with the number of students for the academic years 2003 - 2008, are listed in the FTCC Fact Book 2009. Additionally, FTCC’s 2009 Planning Guide lists 17 licensing and/or accreditation agencies that have approved FTCC’s courses of studies.
